Esmeralda is Baldo's premium version, as it does not cause heartburn due to the Yerba Mate shrubs specially selected for this Yerba and the longer storage of 12 instead of 8 months. As this Yerba is produced in the classic Uruguayan style (PU1), a bombillón with a micro-perforated filter is needed to enjoy this Yerba optimally, a large selection of which can be found in my shop.

The mate leaves were dried for 12 months.

Fill the mate gourd 3/4 with yerba, shake the gourd (holding it slightly to one side so the yerba stays on one side), then pour about 50 degrees Celsius warm water into the empty section (filling it about halfway). Wait about 5-10 minutes, then place the bombilla in the empty area and fill the mate with water heated to 75 degrees Celsius, up to just below the metal ferrule.

Before the first infusion, let the water steep for as long as possible (about 10 minutes). Furthermore, to best enjoy this yerba without the bombilla filter clogging, I recommend a bombillón with a micro-perforated filter, of which you can find a large selection in my shop.
